All About 4 Color Process Transfers

Our 4 Color Process transfers are a screen printed hot peel product produced using halftones of Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black to create full-color graphics.

Up close, you can see the dot pattern of the halftones which form the full-color artwork.

What artwork works best?

If your artwork contains more than 5 colors, it might be best to choose the 4 Color Process option - but not always! We would still recommend a spot color transfer like Howard Multi-Purpose or Howard Hot Peel if your artwork is more than 5 colors but has no gradients. If your artwork is more than 5 colors and contains special effects like gradients or photo-realistic images, then 4 Color Process is the right choice. Below are some examples:

What type of file do I need to submit?

Once you've decided the 4 Color Process transfer is right for your design, it's important to submit the right type of file. You can submit vector artwork or a high-resolution bitmap, at least 300 dpi or higher. The preferred color profile is CMYK. If you submit artwork that is in spot color or RGB format, it will be changed to CMYK. It's important to note that exact color matching is not possible.
